Arsenal reportedly have a shoe-string budget for the summer transfer window and Unai Emery is ready to let go of a couple of players to increase the budget. The manager was reportedly informed that he has a £45 million to spend this summer.
Reports by Di Marzio now suggest that the Gunners are open to selling Mesut Ozil. The German has been one of the best Arsenal players of recent times but with his wages (£350,000 per week) too high, they are ready to let go of him.
Arsenal have already released Stephan Lichtsteiner, Aaron Ramsey, Petr Cech and Danny Welbeck this summer but Emery is reportedly still under pressure to trim the wage bill even further.
Moreover, reports suggest that Emery is not keen on keeping him at the club as well. The former Real Madrid star is not a part of the manager’s plans and has been informed that he can leave this summer.
Di Marzio added that Turkish sides, Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are interested in signing the German but he will have to take a wage cut in order to join them. Arsenal are reportedly looking for bids over €35 million for him.
Rumour Checker: 8/10
Di Marzio is very reliable for transfer news and rumours and given the way Emery has been using Ozil, it won’t be a surprise if the German leaves.
However, a move to Turkey might not be the one for him as it is a step too low right now. Ozil might end up in Serie A or Atletico Madrid this summer.
