Manchester United have finally agreed a deal with Leicester City for Harry Maguire. The Telegraph report that the Englishman would become the most expensive defender of all when he completes his £85 million move to Old Trafford.
Red Devils have been keen on signing the Leicester star for the last one year but never managed to agree a deal for the Foxes. They were holding out for a record fee for a defender and have not got it – £5 million less than what they initially asked for.
The move would see Maguire head straight into the Red Devils starting XI, replacing one of Chris Smalling or Phil Jones in the team. Eric Bailey is expected to be out for 4-5 months following knee surgery and rumours suggest that this pushed United to get the deal done for Maguire.
The former Hull City defender is now expected to travel to Manchester for his medical and contract signing. United are expected to complete it in the next 2 days as they begin training for Chelsea on Monday.
Red Devils play AC Milan tomorrow at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff but there is no chance for Maguire to be there in the team at all. He is, however, expected to be in the team to face Chelsea in the Premier League next Sunday.
